From a 600 sq ft Kolkata flat to 3 lakh+ Indian homes — this is how Great Happy started.

CHAPTER 1

Class 11. That's where it began.

I met Mandira in school. We were 17. From middle-class families. Not the kind that bought new sofa sets every Diwali — but the kind that polished the old ones until they shined.

She always loved homes. I loved building things.

We didn't know it then, but those two loves were going to build everything.

CHAPTER 2

Our first home was 600 sq ft. It felt like a palace.

After marriage, we moved into a small flat in Kolkata. Just 600 sq ft.

But Mandira had this magic.

A cushion here. A folded curtain there. A fresh sheet on Sundays. A small flower vase by the window. Suddenly that little flat felt like the warmest, happiest place in the world.

I'd come home from work and just… breathe differently.

CHAPTER 3

Then 2020 happened. And it changed everything.

I was a software developer. When the pandemic hit, our home became our entire world — office, school, gym, hangout, everything.

And suddenly, we noticed:

The sofa cover was tearing. The bedsheet was faded. The chair covers our families had bought years ago were falling apart.

So we started looking online.

What we found broke our heart.

CHAPTER 4

We decided to fix it. Ourselves.

I dug deep. Talked to fabric makers in Kolkata, Surat, Erode. Studied weave quality. Tested GSM. Compared imported fabrics with Indian ones.

What I found shocked me:

India already makes world-class home fabrics. The problem was nobody was turning them into honest, affordable, beautiful finished products for Indian homes.

Mandira's love for home + my obsession with quality = a name we still believe in:

CHAPTER 5 · 2019

The first 100 homes.

We started small.

100 orders. Each one personally checked by us. Each customer personally messaged. Each "thank you, didi" — felt like a hug.

We weren't building a company. We were building trust, one home at a time.

CHAPTER 6 · END OF 2021

And then came Aishi. 💛

End of 2021, our daughter Aishi was born.

If Mandira taught me what a home meant, Aishi taught us what a home becomes when there's a child in it.

Toys on the sofa. Crayon marks on the cushion. A bedsheet that's "the cosy one." A favorite chair that has to be HER chair.

A home with a child isn't messier. It's sweeter.

That same year — born from being parents ourselves — we launched our Kids Collection. Made for the way Indian children actually live: spilling, jumping, dreaming.

CHAPTER 7 · TODAY

3 lakh+ Indian homes. The same mission.

Today, Great Happy ships to 3 lakh+ Indian homes across 15,000+ pincodes — from tiny rental flats to big luxury apartments.

In 2026, Olympic Champion Saina Nehwal handed us the Business Excellence India Award for Product Quality and Customer Support.

But honestly? We're still the same people.

Mandira still checks colour combinations. I still read every customer message. Aishi still steals cushions to build her fort.

And our mission hasn't moved an inch:

CHAPTER 8

We didn't build Great Happy alone.

A home is never built by one person. Neither is a brand.

When we started, my Maa quietly helped us — packing orders, checking quality, counting stock. She still helps us today. Some habits never change. 💛

Then came Asish, our first ever employee. He used to answer customer calls in our early days. Today, he leads Great Happy as our Manager — with a team of 20.

One by one, more hands joined:

The WhatsApp message that reassured you about size? That's Subhra's patience.

The quality check that caught a tiny flaw? That's Maa's eye.

Great Happy isn't just Vaskar and Mandira anymore.
